Mr. Forman is active in the exploration
and application of theories and practices related to holistic
integration in
complex adaptive systems. He is a founding member of Ken Wilber's
Integral Institute - an international nonprofit organization dedicated
to the integration of body, mind, soul and spirit in self, culture
and nature. He
is also an Owning Member of the Terra Civitas Chaordic Commons
as well as a member of the International Society for Systems Sciences
and the Noetic Institute.
For nearly 14 years, Forman has advised and facilitated processes
for organizations from a wide range of industries in areas ranging
from strategic thinking and leadership counseling to communications
programming, organizational development and diversity. He is particularly
knowledgeable about the role and processes of organizational dialogue,
culture and systems, as well as human spirituality. Forman's work
has been included in the curriculum of graduate level classes
at the University of Washington and the National Defense University.
* Adaptive, integrated organizational
development. Forman co-creates
wholistic complexity-based organizational architectures and decision-making
processes with organizations that allow them to enhance their
adaptability and fitness. These frameworks provide the context
for organizations to become fluidly capable of meeting their self-defined
and customers' needs unrestricted by organizational barriers,
but with structure appropriate to meeting operational needs. These
concepts have been implemented in assignments ranging from strategic
planning to organizational redesign to human resources to career
programming. His interventions allow an organization to engage
a variety of personal and group value systems, and to consider
the organization and its individuals in a larger environmental
context.
* Integrated change management. Forman's work
with numerous client organizations and to managing partners and
CEOs give him a pragmatic awareness of the realities facing organizational
leadership. He has provided services ranging from personal counsel
and leadership coaching to communications programming and interactive
group facilitation in emergent situations. His innovative and
highly adaptive approach connects an organization's staff and
management with its fundamental purpose, values, strategic direction
and its environment, based on the shared understanding created
by genuine dialogue. This approach considers the roles and needs
of both individuals and the organization as a whole, combining
both subjective and objective perspectives with a variety of developmental
disciplines to ensure that the entire system is being understood
in context so that actions can be taken with greater confidence.

"I became associated with Dr. Clare W. Graves in 1968. Dr. Graves spent time with the "Values Group" that met for over 9 years during the 1970's in the Washington, D. C. area. Since the initial meeting with Clare I have collected his papers and taped his meetings when I could. I might be considered a "keeper of Graves' papers" which are slowly appearing on the SD website. I am now retired from the teaching field where I taught primarily Psychology for over 32+ years. I have taught Clare's Levels of Existence Theory, Coping Systems Theory, Psychological Map, and eventually Spiral Dynamics for more than 24 years.
During those years of teaching Clares' theory, I also conducted research with my students using many of the same tests which Dr. Graves used in his research. This research data is still in the process of being organized and will be presented on the SD website in the future.
Although my experience in the application of the theory is in the classroom, I would be glad to talk to anyone who has questions about Spiral Dynamics theory - the legacy of Clare W. Graves."
